As you know, this month is Black history month — and in my world cultures class (I am a teacher) I asked the children to bring in something to commemorate Black history or black culture. One of my kids brought in a small portable antique thumb piano — it was originally manufactured in Africa and has been a family heirloom for some years. This child not only brought in the instrument — they even gave us a little bit of demonstration by actually playing it for a few minutes — this was a really nice treat, and was probably the most interesting demonstration I have ever seen.
