There seems to be a gazillion tons of rules about the wearing of Lace Garters as a bride on our big day.I am not too sure when the tradition first came about but I believe it started in the 1500s. The bride would have on two garters, both on the right leg at the top. The first was as a keepsake, and the other was thrown by the groom to the single chaps in the room. Rather like the bride hurling the bouquet to the single girls.The single fella, then puts the garter round the thigh of the single female who caught the bouquet.NB - He used to have take it off with his teeth!Fascintating
