Promise rings have been known to have a host of meanings. Promise rings can act as engagement rings, and if soo they are genarelly worn on the left hand, on the actual left ring finger (secong from left). They can also be given to a friend to recogonize a true bond, and a promise ring can also be given to oneself, as an act of remebering a promise to abstain from alcohol drugs or sex. These rings date back to the 16th century, and so they cannot just be put down to a modern marketing trend.
