I have just purchased a new computer, and want to donate my old computer to charity. However, I don’t want my information available for recovery on the hard drive, I want to protect myself from identity theft in case someone with the ability to get data that has been deleted from the hard drive acquires my computer after donation. Where can I go to ensure secure hard data drive destruction? I don’t want to totally destroy the hard drive, I just want the data permanently erased so that it will be safe to donate it. The computer will be much more useful with a hard drive.
